Extra Curricular - World Book Day

World Book Day 2017

Cavendish Staff in costume Many staff embraced the notion of dressing up as a character from a book and this caused much excitement amongst students.

Lessons throughout the day started with an extract from a book and at lunchtime there was a special Bookbites storytelling session in the library which had been transformed into Harry Potter's world.

Students had the choice of 4 mini sessions:

Mrs Murphy, dressed as Jacob Marley read from A Christmas Carol, while Miss Forinton entertained students with an extract from the BFG.  Meanwhile, The Cat in the Hat, alias Miss Knoetze, was joined by Mrs Bridgman as Willy Wonka to read from their chosen themed books.

In tutor time, students took the 'Shelfie' challenge to try to match the bookshelf to each member of staff with 7Ru2 emerging as champions. There was also a literary quiz to test students' knowledge of books.

Students declared the day a great success, a real tribute to World Book Day!
